“I Want to Be a Weather Girl” by: Katie M. Donovan ©

I want to be a weather girl,
I’ve dreamed it for many years.
This goal has brought me joy in life,
but has also caused some tears.
Of all the things I could have been,
I’ll report the winds that blow and swirl.
This wish seems close to crazy
in this almost jobless world.
I love the rain that soaks the ground,
and the lightning that lights the sky.
The yellow sun, it’s beautiful,
and makes the cool air warm and dry,
Tornadoes, yes, I love them most.
They form on the back edge of a storm.
Is deadly force of nature can be gorgeous
if you’re warned.
I love the clouds that float around,
all white and weightless dew.
And I adore the snow that falls from them,
and makes the land look pure and new.
So if weathers what I’m passionate about,
then I’ll go where this path will lead.
And as long as I “commit my work to the LORD,
then my dreams will succeed.”

Proverbs 16:3—“Commit your work to the LORD, and then your plans will succeed.”

I love the beach. I love, love. I love this.

I love the beach. I love, love. I love this.

“Tornado Alley” by: Katie M. Donovan ©

When I graduate college, Its one of my goals to be a weather girl for a news station! For as long as I can remember, weather has fascinated me; especially tornadoes. I wrote this poem one day that I happened to be thinking about tornado alley. I hope you like it!
———————————————————————————
There’s a place out in Kansas where the airs warm and dry.
The plains are all flat, aboves an open blue sky.
It all seems quite peaceful till dark clouds fill the air,
An event quite common and seen daily there.
You see, 50 tornadoes can touch down in a week,
Because here conditions are perfect during summers peak.
The warm air below, greets the cold air up high,
And this perfect concoction will set hell in the sky.
The bright afternoon sun turns quite quickly to night,
And your happy thoughts of the day are replaced by feelings of fright.
Trees snap like twigs, and hail falls from the clouds.
Lightning lights up the dark, followed by thunder deafening loud.
The vortex sounds like a train, consuming all in it’s path,
Sowing nothing it’s mercy, releasing only it’s wrath.
And just when you think things will never come to a cease,
The twister moves on, leaving quiet and peace.
The dark cloud float away, the wind and hail come to a stop.
The thunders no more, and rain no longer drops.
Yes the blue sky returns, and the air is now cooled,
Leaving devastation, yet beauty, because the lands now renewed.

Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart.” -Psalms 37:4

“The One You’ll Love Forever” By: Katie M. Donovan ©

How do you know when you’ve met the one,
You’ll love the rest of your life?
The one you’ll spend forever with,
Joined as husband and wife?
Well, it’s something different for everyone,
Defined by experiences, joys, and things failed.
The feats we accomplish, success that we reach,
And even the hurt with which we are ailed.
The one you’ll spend forever with, will know the depths of your soul.
They’ll comfort you when times are hard,
And give you their hand to hold.
They’ll forgive unconditionally the wrong that you do,
And be your support in what you feel is right.
They’ll understand what makes you tick,
And hold you close on those cold winter nights.
They’ll still think you’re beautiful when you wear your sweats and old shirts,
And adore each and all of your personality quirks.
Yes they’ll love you through each and all of your flaws,
And help you back up if they cause you to fall.
Your forever love will respect all that you wish,
And each time you encounter, give you a hug and a kiss.
It’s the little things, you’ll see, that will make you smile the most,
And each chance that you have, you’ll be wanting to boast.
So remember, don’t settle, if they don’t meet all your standards and more.
There’s someone better out there,
And they’ll make your heart soar.
Yes, I promise they’re out there,
Finding them just takes some time.
And when you finally meet them,
All will be fine.
So that day you feel fuzzy, from your head to your feet,
Give them your love and they will make you complete.
Yes that day that you know, and feel the warmth of love in your soul,
Give them your heart, and they’ll be yours forever to cherish and hold.
Oh, the day that you know, way deep down it’s right,
Give them your hand, and they’ll love you for life.

I hope one day I’ll find this.

I hope one day I’ll find this.

Spring Fever—and the things that come with it.

So I don’t know about the rest of you guys, but I’ve been having a hard time accomplishing anything these past few weeks. I’m 100% confident in saying that it’s the spring weather too.
I absolutely hate the cold and want nothing to do with it. Yeah it has it’s perks—hot chocolate, sledding and cuddling; but if it came down to it, I would much rather sit in a lawn chair and soak up the sunshine.
Take for example last Wednesday. It was like 70 degrees and sunny, so instead of studying for a quiz in my night class, I went for a walk and then to the park. That was probably a bad idea but for crying out loud, you only live once and I was able to focus more in the end. I think it was ultimately a good decision.
With spring comes all of the great clothes, and constant little reminders that summer is only few short months away.
I love all of the severe weather that comes with the rainy months as well. Being a weather junkie, I find myself not being able to get enough of it. The tornadoes that touched down yesterday had me glued to the weather coverage for quite some time.
With spring comes graduation, I’m not going to lie, this is someone I dread every year. It’s sad making lots of close friends and then having them all graduate. Yeah, it’s kind of selfish to want them to stay at school and postpone their adult lives, but when you become close to someone, you can’t help but worry what will happen after they walk across that stage. Will they stay apart of your life? Or will they forget you and go about living their dreams? My momma told me if they truly value the friendship they will do anything to keep it alive. Those who don’t bother, aren’t worth my time. So I don’t know. More about that when May rolls around.
I suppose I should get going. Work in 15 minutes! Hope you enjoyed reading what was on my mind is morning. :)
